Optimize Route
Route optimization helps you plan the most efficient delivery path, saving time and fuel costs. Root Mobile offers both pre-optimization through the Root Mobile web app and real-time optimization on your mobile device.
Pre-Optimized Routes
Section titled “Pre-Optimized Routes”Routes may be pre-optimized by office staff using the Root Mobile web app before you begin your day. This provides a baseline route plan based on:
- Customer locations and addresses
- Historical traffic patterns
- Delivery time windows
- Vehicle capacity and constraints
- Priority customer requirements
Mobile Route Optimization
Section titled “Mobile Route Optimization”For even more accurate routing, you can enable automatic route optimization directly on your mobile device.
Enabling Route Optimization
Section titled “Enabling Route Optimization”To activate mobile route optimization:
- Open the Settings tab in your mobile app
- Locate the “Optimize Routes” toggle
- Enable the optimization feature
Automatic Optimization During Start of Day
Section titled “Automatic Optimization During Start of Day”When route optimization is enabled, the system will automatically reoptimize your delivery route each time you perform Start of Day. This provides several advantages:
- Real-Time Traffic Data: Incorporates current road conditions and traffic patterns
- Weather Considerations: Adjusts for weather-related delays or road closures
- Dynamic Updates: Reflects any last-minute changes to orders or customer availability
- Fuel Efficiency: Calculates the most fuel-efficient path based on current conditions
- Time Savings: Minimizes total travel time and maximizes delivery efficiency
